Thanks to funding from the Indianapolis Bar Foundation, and in collaboration with Center for Victim and Human Rights, Indiana Legal Services, and the Julian Center, we are pleased to announce the first training series for the Julian Center Pro Bono Clinic.
The Julian Center Pro Bono Clinic, which provides pro bono legal assistance to primarily low-income survivors of domestic violence, is seeking volunteer attorneys to provide legal advice and referrals during the Julian Center’s Protection Order Clinic on Thursday evenings from 5-7 PM.
Licensed attorneys interested in volunteering must first register for and attend a free CLE accredited training series at Faegre Drinker, 300 North Meridian, at the following times:
March 2, 9-11 AM Helping Domestic Violence Survivors – Trauma Informed Care
Learn about the neurobiology of trauma and get information about effective approaches for working with people who have experienced types of trauma, including domestic and sexual violence.
Monday March 16, 9-11 AM Family Law 101
Learn Basic family law information about paternity, divorce, custody, parenting time, and child support which will help you answer basic family law questions for domestic violence survivors.
Wednesday, April 15, 9-11 AM Protection Orders 101
Learn what protection Orders of Protection provide, how to get an Order of Protection, and what happens if an abuser violates an Order of Protection. This training will help volunteer attorneys answer questions about Orders of Protection from both advocates and survivors during the clinic.
Trainings will be recorded and available for later viewing, but attendance is required to receive CLE credit and to volunteer at the Clinic.
